Director

The director has three main functions: promoting and developing the intellectual activities of the group, managing the budgets and serving as the centre's official representative at the internal and external levels

Regular
and
associate
members

CIRST has 33 regular members and 17 associate members, from ten different institutions (UQAM,  Université de Montréal, Université de Sherbrooke, Université Concordia, École de technologie supérieure,  Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, York University, etc.). Their research covers several major disciplines: sociology, history, management sciences, economics, philosophy, political science and communication. Their wide range of expertise allows CIRST members to develop multidisciplinary and inter-institutional teams to tackle large-scale problems

Emeritus members

CIRST has three emeritus members: Camille Limoges, a former director of the Centre, and Céline Saint-Pierre, co-founder of CREST, a precursor to CIRST, and Petr Hanel, first time member. This status was bestowed upon them to underline their important contributions to CIRST

Visiting researchers

CIRST often hosts visiting researchers for set lengths of time.

Postdoctoral
Fellows

CIRST regularly welcomes postdoctoral fellows who, supervised by one of the members, have access to a stimulating environment (researchers, students, guest speakers, etc.), as well to the Centre's infrastructure (offices, computer equipment, resource centre, administrative centre, etc.)

Graduates
and
student members

Some eighty students are currently affiliated with the CIRST while completing their Masters' or Doctoral theses, or as research assistants. Graduate students pursue their degrees in a wide variety of fields, such as administration, history, economics, political science, sociology and philosophy. They are living proof as to the range of expertise of CIRST's members

Students actively participate in the activities at CIRST  (conferences, research projects, colloquia, etc.). Each year, they take part in the Graduate Student Colloquium, which gives them the opportunity to familiarize themselves with writing proposals, as well as preparing and delivering presentations. As an integral part of their education, this annual colloquium is held before a jury mandated to award a prize to the best presentation

CIRST graduates are former members who completed their graduate education under the supervision of one of the professors at CIRST. Summaries and abstracts of recently completed theses can be view here.

Professional and technical staff

The CIRST counts on highly-qualified personnel who serve as research officers, documentation technicians, information officers, secretaries and computer analysts. This team ensures that the Centre operates smoothly and contributes to its visibility within the university and beyond
